6th - 7th September  Soil Association Organic Food Festival, Bristol

Europe's largest festival of organic food and drink this event will feature stalls, talks, demonstrations by celebrity chefs and much more.

13th September   Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show

Held at the West Woodlands Showground on the outskirts of Frome the show provides plenty of entertainment for the whole family . The best of local food produce will be available in the Fine Food Hall whilst, at the heart of the show, the cheese pavillion will display more than 500 entries from cheese producers around the country.

20th September - 5th October    British Food Fortnight

A National celebration of British Food, with many local events including special British menus, and our favourite chefs joining the UK's biggest volunteer movement, helping to teach children how to cook.  More details to follow.

27th September - 5th October    South Somerset Food Festival

Everything from special menus, foodie walks, open days, tours and tastings to a dedicated Spudfest at Brimsmore.

28th September   Cider, Cheese and Chutney Fair, Hestercombe Gardens, Nr Taunton

Promising to be even bigger and better for 2008, visit Hestercombe for this celebration of local food, beer and cider.

24th Ocxtober - 2nd November   Mendip Food and Drink Festival

A vibrant celebration of food and drink in Mendip, now in it's 5th year, the organisers promise to make it the biggest and best yet.

Axbridge
Held on the first Saturday of the month, in the medieval Town Square with a selection of about 20 stalls including Axbridge based Moorland Farm and in season Besleys Strawberries from Cheddar. Look out for the Fair Trade Stall too. See our feature on Axbridge

Brent Knoll
Held on the second Saturday of the month in Brent Knoll Parish Hall. The Brent Knoll Bazaar and Farmers' market includes a variety of stalls selling such local fruit and vegetables, fresh Beef, cakes, and preserves as well as local arts and crafts.

Bridgwater
Held on the second Friday of the month. a small market held in Fore Street.

Burnham-on-Sea
Held on the last Friday of the month in the High Street between Adam Street and Cross Street.

Chard
Held at the Guildhall on the fourth Friday of the month.

Cheddar Gorge
Held at the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Co. on the fourth Friday of the month (May - Oct) situated within the breathtaking Cheddar Gorge itself.

Crewkerne
Held on the third Saturday of the month, in Falkland Square
Voted the 'Best Farmers' Market in Somerset 2007 by Somerset Life Magazine.
An excellent range of about 30 stalls.

Frome
Held twice monthly on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at the Cheese and Grain Market Hall. On average there are 30 stalls with a huge range of produce.

Glastonbury
Fore Street Held on the fourth Saturday of the month in this legendary and historic Abbey town. Situated in St John's car park just off the town centre. With over 20 stalls there is a good selection of produce including organic vegetables, Vegan products, fish and a chocolate stall.

Highbridge
A small market held in the Community Hall on the first Friday of the month.

Keynsham
Held at the Fear Institute Hall on the second Saturday of the month. There is a good variety of produce with an average of 12 stalls located in an indoor market in the heart of the bustling town of Keynsham.

Midsomer Norton
Held on the first Saturday of the month at the Methodist Church Hall. On average there are 15 stalls with a good selection of very local produce and a 'local and Fair Trade' cafe in the hall.

Minehead
Previously held monthly, but now every Friday, in The Parade. 

Taunton
Situated in the High Street of the county town of Somerset, this market is held every Thusday with extra stands monthly.

Wellington
Held on the third Saturday of the month.

Wells
This weekly market is held in conjunction with the ordinary street market in this cathedral city. With over 16 stalls the market takes place every Wednesday in the Market Place in front of the Town Hall. See our report on where to eat in Wells

Wincanton
Held on the first Friday of the month in the Memorial Hall. With around 20 stalls a wide variety of produce are available, with the benefit of an indoor location.

Yeovil
Held on the second Thursday of the month.
